I always adore a good backyard wedding. There’s something so sweetly intimate about gathering all of your family and friends in your home to join your lives together. And Cassie and Kyle’s backyard wedding? It was definitely a good one! One of biggest perks of having a backyard wedding is that everything takes place in one place. There’s no rushing around on the day of, allowing the couple to have fun and remain stress-free! These two couldn’t have been more laid-back about the entire wedding day, which made their choice of venue perfect!
From their lakefront ceremony to the lawn games and food trucks – it was such a fun, lovely day! There were mason jars filled with flowers set atop old whiskey barrels, twinkle lights carefully hung in the trees, and even a popcorn machine for some very fun cocktail hour snacks. Cassie and Kyle have an amazing personal style and it definitely shined through in their wedding decor!
We had SO much fun hanging out with these two and their loved ones! We wish them all the best in their new lives together. Congrats, you two!!
How did you and Kyle first meet?
“We met while attending a course in Florida in 2011. We never would have had the courage to approach one another if we hadn’t run into each other after a couple of drinks that weekend. On Monday, Kyle had my number but couldn’t remember my name, so he had to con the class roster out of an instructor!”
What is your fondest wedding day memory?
“My favorite memory would have to be coming down the stairs, and rounding the corner to see Kyle at the end of the aisle waiting for me. It was all so magical and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him!”
What were some of your favorite wedding day details?
“Everything was perfect! My favorite details though were the old whiskey barrels and the lights! And my dress. Ahh my dress. :)”
How did Kyle propose to you?
“Kyle proposed Thanksgiving weekend 2013 while all of my family was in town. It wasn’t anything real fancy or an extravagant event. I was decorating the Christmas tree, and I turned around to find him on one knee. It was a surprise to everyone except my dad, of course!”
I kind of wish we could shoot every session from Cassie and Kyle’s deck! It had the most beautiful light – their cake cutting looks like it took place in a giant tree house! Kyle and his dad did an awesome job building it for the wedding!
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their own weddings?
“Prioritize by procrastination! In the end, what matters will get done, and if it doesn’t get done, it doesn’t matter! Don’t sweat the small details. It’s nearly impossible, but try to breath and enjoy the day. It goes by way too fast to be stressed the entire time!”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We will be going to Jost van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands at the end of July.”
