An intimate beach wedding | Ft. Fisher Beach NC Wedding Photographer

Jen + Jimmy were wed during an intimate beach ceremony at Ft. Fisher / Kure Beach in North Carolina. Their wedding ceremony was followed with a fun backyard reception…complete with cornhole and board games. Love!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I adored this wedding! These two are seriously the SWEETEST couple! They’re always smiling and laughing…and are just really fun to be around (which makes us a little sad they live all the way in New York.)
And Jen’s family? They couldn’t have been more welcoming to David + I from the moment we walked into their home! That’s always such a relief when photographing a wedding – we love when the couple’s parents are on board and excited to work with us as well. :)

A few (okay, a lot!) of our favorites from the day…

pink floral centerpieces
backyard wedding tent and seating chart
board game wedding theme
ring with scrabble board spelling love
pink bouquet and heirloom handkerchief
Jennifer’s mom made this garter with lace from her own wedding dress & her grandmother’s brooch. (The handkerchief used in Jen’s bouquet was also passed down from her great-grandmother.) We thought those were such sweet details!

What is your favorite memory from the day?
“Walking down the aisle and seeing the tears well up in [Jimmy’s] eyes.”

What were your favorite wedding details?
“Our custom wedding cake topper, which was inspired by the Gazebo in the first Twilight movie. That was the first movie we watched together, and the sequels all came out around our anniversaries.”

Do you have any advice to those currently planning their weddings?
“Don’t expect things to go as planned, there will be things that go wrong!  In the end everything will be perfect (and a blur), just try not to let things that go wrong bother you and enjoy your day – your guests probably won’t notice that anything is even amiss. “

Is there anything you would do differently?
“Planning a wedding from out of state was the most difficult aspect of the wedding – hiring a coordinator to work with the many vendors might have made it easier!  And not forgetting to do the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances!”

Jen’s brother had a ridiculous amount of leftover fireworks, which he brought along. Pretty awesome, right?!
