Siera + Louis’ Wedding at The Farm in Candler, NC.
Siera and Louis’ beautiful, rustic chic wedding celebration took place at The Farm in Candler, NC. The Farm is an awesome wedding venue located just outside of Asheville in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The venue itself is on a working farm with rolling pastures, and it’s gorgeous! It was the perfect setting for Siera and Louis’ laid-back, handmade wedding celebration.
No wedding day is without its hiccups, of course. Siera and Louis’ wedding week started off a bit rocky when this Chicago-based bride arrived in Asheville minus her wedding dress! Luckily, her Maid of Honor saved the say and the rest of the week flew by! This sweet couple spent the days leading up to their wedding, welcoming friends and family and enlisting their help in gathering flowers from the farmer’s market and putting the finishing touches on their decor. It’s always so much fun to photograph weddings where all of the guests clearly adore the couple, as was the case with Siera and Lou. These two were super sweet and so much fun to work with!
Thanks so much for choosing us to be your wedding photographers, Siera + Lou! We loved getting to you guys and sharing in your day!
How did you meet and Louis meet?
“We lived next door to each other in dorm apartments at UNC. I met Lou at a party on his side of the building. After being friends for a few years, we started dating after Lou graduated in summer 2007.”
“With everyone’s hard work, the decor at the reception space came together beautifully. We also really loved the big purple plants and the handmade garland (made by our friend and wedding coordinator extraordinaire Sarah Sanders) at the gazebo where the ceremony took place.”
What’s your favorite way to spend time together?
“Going on adventures, both at home in Chicago or some place new. ”
How did Louis propose to you?
“Lou proposed in a beautiful, tree-lined section of the Chicago Botanic Garden on September 15, 2012.”
Buckets of lavender with numbered table flags adorned the guest tables, and guests were given small jars of honey from the Blue Ridge Honey Company as favors.
Guests enjoyed rounds of cornhole and took selfies with the horses after dinner. What’s not to love about a couple who enters with the iconic Pulp Fiction dance?! So fun!!
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their weddings?
“Delegate; especially to people who offer to help and you know you work well with. Also, try not to forget your wedding dress and suit in the closet in Chicago when your wedding is somewhere other than Chicago.”
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
“First: getting to spend time with all of our favorite people all in the same place at the reception. A close second: our friend Alejandro snatching up the bouquet.”
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“San Francisco for the Fourth of July, then Los Cabos for a week.”
