North Carolina Museum of Art Wedding

Jessica and Peter were married at the NCMA in Raleigh.

NCMA Wedding Photo

The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh is one of our all-time favorite wedding venues. I mean, what’s not to love about a wedding surrounded by tons of art and white walls? The grounds along the museum are beautiful. AND NCMA has one of the best coordinators around – Morgan Greer!

Jessica and Peter’s wedding day was perfect. It was chic and understated, just like the couple. (And filled with gorgeous florals by Watered Garden Florist!) These two couldn’t be a more perfect match! It’s so clear to see how much they adore one another when spending time with them. They’re both always smiling and seem so genuine. And their day was clearly filled with so much love!
I think they danced together and with their families more than any other couples we’ve ever photographed.

Jessica and Peter – Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful day! We loved being able to celebrate you two and wish you all the very best!

I will always love First Looks! I think it’s so sweet for a couple to have a few minutes to quietly take in the day together – before all of the wedding day chaos begins! (Plus, how cute are they?!)

Toward the end of the night, Jessica and Peter enjoyed one last dance before slipping out of the party unannounced. I loved that!

New Bern Farm Wedding –
Battens’ Barn

New Bern Farm Wedding - Battens

Courtney and Joe were wed at Battens’ Barn in New Bern last month. This venue couldn’t have been more perfect for a laid-back, fall farm wedding! The owners of Battens’ Farm completed their new barn just in time for these two to celebrate!
This wedding was filled with so many details we loved! Courtney made her grand entrance in a horse drawn carriage. Quilt covered hay bales served as seating for the ceremony. Glitter and rhinestone encrusted turquoise cowboy boots were the perfect touch of something blue (as was her burlap flower garter.) And of course – we can’t forget the horses who thought Courtney’s sunflower bouquet was the perfect tasty treat!
These two are one of the most genuinely sweet couples and it’s clear to see the love they have for one another and their families. We wish them all the best!

Tell us about your wedding!
“We got married at Batten Farms in New Bern, NC. We chose this venue because it was absolutely beautiful, and it had the rustic feel that we wanted.  Our theme was rustic farm wedding. Joe and I both love the outdoors and loved the idea of incorporating our interests into our wedding day.”

I love that Courtney was able to include her dad’s wedding boots into her ceremony backdrop. Such a sweet, sentimental touch!

What is your favorite wedding day memory?
“The whole day was so absolutely beautiful and full of love, that picking a single moment is hard to do! However, with that being said, walking down the aisle and seeing Joe standing at the end will forever be my favorite.”

What were some of your favorite wedding day details?
“One of my favorite details was when Joe and I gave the roses to our moms to signify the joining of the two families. Another favorite detail would be the send off with the sparklers and motorcycles. It was absolutely insane, and a complete surprise! The little decorations and details that my mom and aunt added in made it even more special for us.”

What advice do you have for other couple’s planning their own weddings?
“Don’t rush! Enjoy the time y’all have together and work together to plan it.”

Courtney’s dad gave one of the most heartfelt and funny Father of the Bride speeches we’ve heard in ages.  We always love a great storyteller! 🙂

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“We went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and stayed at the Beaches resort! It was absolutely beautiful, and the employees were incredibly sweet and fun to talk to.”

Franklin Park Conservatory Wedding – Colombus, OH.

Columbus-OH-Conservatory-Garden-Wedding-Photo

It was an absolute honor to photograph Kate and David’s wedding at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio last fall. These two have been so much fun to work with over the last few years! If only they lived a little closer…
Kate and David’s wedding weekend was our first time exploring Columbus. And it’s a pretty awesome city! The Franklin Park Conservatory is easily one of my all-time favorite venues now. It’s just so gorgeous! There were infinite beautiful locations to use for their wedding portraits, and trying to choose between them was my biggest struggle! Luckily, Kate made sure to set aside plenty of time for portraits and we had a full hour to roam all of the various garden collections. Yay!

Kate and David’s wedding ceremony and reception was held in the Palm House. This grand Victorian-style glass greenhouse was built in 1895 and houses a 100+ year old Fiddle-leaf Fig. (If you’ve ever struggled to keep a fiddle-leaf fig alive, like me – you would’ve been in awe!) It was the perfect tropical backdrop for their beautiful ceremony.

We’re so fortunate to be able to photograph couples from all over the world. Destination weddings can be stressful at times, but it’s always such an honor to get these opportunities. We can’t thank Kate and David (and all of their awesome friends and family) enough for being so hospitable to us! We wish them all the best!

A Shady Wagon Farms Wedding – Dana + Dan

Dana and Dan were wed this fall at Shady Wagon Farms in New Hill, NC. Their gorgeously rustic chic wedding was such a joy to photograph. It’s been an honor getting to know these two over the last year.

How did you and Dan meet?
We actually met at work.  Something’s got to be enjoyable about work!”new hill nc wedding photoShady Wagon Farm GroomGroom Prep pinning boutonnierewww.ashleydavidphotography.comShady Wagon Farm Wedding Photowww.ashleydavidphotography.comRaleigh NC Wedding PhotoRaleigh Wedding Photographer

How did Dan propose to you?
“We love the mountains!  We try to make it up to Blowing Rock at least a couple times a year.  We went up for a long weekend and went on a hike to see some waterfalls.  When we got to the top he got down on one knee (shaking like a leaf) and had a ring in his hand.  He was so nervous I had to pretty much ask the question for him, but I knew where he was going with it and of course I said YES!”

What are your favorite memories from the day?
“Definitely our “first look”.  We will never forget that moment when we both are seeing each other for the very first time on our wedding day. Also, our first dance.  We took dance lessons so we could have something choreographed for our dance.  We are far from professional but the amount of fun we had while doing it was priceless, and the fact that we nailed our dip at the end was an added bonus!”bride and groom first look photoShady Wagon Farm Wedding Photowww.ashleydavidphotography.comRaleigh Wedding Photographersunplugged wedding idea photowww.ashleydavidphotography.comNorth Carolina Wedding Photographerswww.ashleydavidphotography.comwww.ashleydavidphotography.comwww.ashleydavidphotography.comwww.ashleydavidphotography.comwww.ashleydavidphotography.com

“We really love camping and watching football with cold beer & some chicken wings.”

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their own weddings?
“Definitely get a wedding coordinator.  We did just the “day of coordination” but really she helped me with so much more.  We had meetings and phone calls every few months or so and she just kept me on track with everything.  I can’t imagine planning a wedding without having some professional guidance.  And when the day finally arrived, we had zero worries, everything was taken care of.  All we had to do was get married and celebrate the best day of our lives!”www.ashleydavidphotography.comwww.ashleydavidphotography.comshady-wagon-farm-wedding-photo (89)

What were some of your favorite wedding details?
“We had a DIY photo booth that was a total hit.  Everyone had so much fun with it, and there were lots of really great pictures.  Also, the flower arrangements were amazing.  Our florist did such a phenomenal job.  From the bouquets to the table pieces, everything she did was just perfect!!”  (Side note: Seriously! If any of you are looking for an amazing Raleigh area florist, Kelley of Teacup Florals is your girl! From the floral filled pumpkins to Dana’s succulent bouquet, she provided some of the most gorgeously unique arrangements we’ve ever seen – and is super sweet!)
