Raleigh Courthouse Elopement

Andy + Daniel

Oh my goodness! We LOVED photographing Andy + Daniel’s super fun Raleigh courthouse elopement recently!

This sweet couple decided to finally tie the knot on their 11th anniversary. They invited a small group of their closest friends to join them for their low-key civil ceremony at the Wake County Courthouse in Raleigh. We loved the humor and unique touches that Andy and Daniel worked into their wedding ceremony. They couldn’t reach a decision on which friends should be selected as their ring bearer or witnesses, so they opted for the judge to draw names from a special box each time. It was adorable!

After the ceremony, everyone headed across the street to Whiskey Kitchen for some celebratory wedding cake and champagne.  This is one of Raleigh’s newest downtown spots and it’s pretty cool inside! Have you guys seen that amazing blue chesterfield sofa?! (OBSESSED!) It was the perfect spot for some cozy portraits of the two of them immediately following the ceremony.
Once everyone had their share of cake and bubbly, Andy and Daniel left their friends to celebrate at the bar while we headed all over Raleigh. Downtown Raleigh is a big part of Andy and Daniel’s lives, so they wanted to incorporate some of their favorite art into their wedding portraits. Thanks to the Raleigh Murals Project, there have been some amazing murals that have popped up lately! We were so excited that Andy and Daniel wanted to stop in at two of newest NC Equality murals that had popped up recently at Trophy Brewing and Poole’s Diner, as well as the Warehouse District mural.

It had been threatening to rain all day, but thankfully the weather held off until the end of the day. We headed over to Mordecai Park to meet back up with their friends and round out their wedding party portraits. This was our first visit to this hidden gem. I’m not sure how we’d managed to pass that park so many times without noticing. But the historic homes and church on the property were adorable – and the perfect place to wrap the day.

Congrats again, you two! We’re SO SO thrilled for you both!

Dana + J’s Raleigh Engagement

JC Raulston Arboretum Engagement Photographers

We met Dana and Jabari at JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh for their engagement session. This Detroit couple would be eloping later in the week, but wanted to document this exciting stage of their relationship first! And oh my goodness – we had so much fun with both of them! I don’t think we’ve ever laughed so much at a session! Normally, the guys are pretty reserved during the engagement session and shy away from most public displays of affection. Jabari’s enthusiasm, however, was hilarious! Dana isn’t a huge fan of PDA, so he was super eager to take full advantage of all the kisses and cuddles he could get! It was pretty cute. Dana and J really are such a joyful, energetic couple. I adored our time with them! Congrats to these newlyweds!

An Intimate NC Botanical Garden Wedding

Nicole + James

I secretly always love small weddings. They’re so sweetly intimate without all of the chaos that comes along with a typical wedding day. Don’t get me wrong – we always love a good party as well! But there’s just something special about only including a handful of your closest family and friends to share the day with you.

We started off the day at Simply Divine Bed and Breakfast in Dunn, NC. Nicole and James got dressed in separate parts of the inn with the help of family and friends. It was an extremely relaxed morning filled with laughter and a few tears. Once dressed, everyone headed to the botanical garden in Fayetteville.
Nicole and James exchanged their vows underneath an arbor in the gardens. Neither wore shoes as they promised to always love one another, go on adventures, and get their toes dirty together. It was perfect and just right for these nature lovers! Nicole and James were so ridiculously adorable together. They have a love that’s very genuine and joyful. We loved spending time with them!

Nicole and James – Thank you so much for allowing us to document this exciting moment in your lives together. It couldn’t have been more beautiful! Congrats, you two!

Congrats to Amanda and Jesse, who were married on April 24th, 2010.
They decided to hold an intimate ceremony with only their immediate families on the steps of Old Main.  It had been pouring all day, but thankfully the rain stopped just as the officiant arrived, and it ended up being a gorgeous day.

Photos from their ‘day after’ will be posted tomorrow!
