Jo + Howie’s Downtown Asheboro Wedding

Jo + Howie were recently wed at 105 Worth Event Centre in downtown Asheboro. We’ve only been to Asheboro a handful of times, so upon arriving at the venue, we spent a few minutes scouting the surrounding area. You guys – Asheboro has so many fun murals! Who knew?! We quickly learned that Asheboro is full of charm and lots of quirk. So thankfully we had no problems finding some adorable post ceremony portrait locations for Jo and Howie.
It was also our first time shooting a wedding at 105 Worth. I love when a venue is all inclusive to the wedding day. From getting ready suites to separate ceremony and reception spaces – the couple never has to leave the site. So nice on 95 degree days!) Plus, I’m instantly in love with any warehouse-esque space that offers hardwood floors and exposed brick! So pretty!
Congrats, Jo + Howie!

Tell us all about your wedding!
“We got married at 105 Worth Event Centre. I wanted our wedding to be elegant, beautiful, simple, and all on a budget! We chose the color gold because it’s one of Howie’s favorite colors (and because glitter!) I noticed that every time I looked at wedding ideas on Pinterest, I was always drawn to the gold, white, and blush color scheme. This helped make the decision to add blush and white to the mix.”

“Howie and I have been together for 7 years. As long as I can remember, Howie would give me “kiss attacks.” On the day of our wedding, while I was getting ready, there was a knock on the door. It was one of Howie’s groomsmen. He said “Jo, I need to talk to you.” Instantly, I thought something was wrong with Howie. However, as soon as I stepped out of the door, he threw a whole bag of Hershey Kisses on my head and handed me a card from Howie. He said that even though he couldn’t see me in person, he could still give me a kiss attack.”

What were some of your favorite wedding day details?
“My nana was our flower girl. After Howie and I got engaged, I saw an article where a couple used their grandmothers as flower girls. I knew instantly that I wanted my Nana to be our flower girl. She has always been there to support me and encourage me no matter what I decide to do in life, and she loves Howie as if he was her grandson. We wanted to show her how thankful we are to have her in our life!”

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

“One of my favorite memories from our wedding is right before I walked down the aisle. We practiced that I would start walking down after the music played for a few seconds. However, on the actual day, my allergies were messing up and I really needed some Kleenex. My brother ran upstairs to grab me some tissue right as the music started playing. I didn’t walk down the aisle until the music was playing for over a minute. It made for a dramatic affect!”

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their own wedding?
“Relax! It’s super easy to get stressed out over every little detail. At the end of the day, it only matters that you are marrying the love of your life!”

“My brother walked me down the aisle. Our dad passed away in 2010, so I knew that Zach would be the one to give me away when I got married. Instead of doing a father-daughter dance, we got to do a brother-sister dance. The song that I chose- “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac, always reminded me of my dad. Typically, I am not an emotional person, but when that song began to play, I lost it. I am so thankful to have a brother as wonderful as mine. That was one of the sweetest moments.”

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
“Howie and I took a cruise to the Bahamas! It was wonderful! This was the first time we had been on vacation just the two of us. It was much needed!”

 Carrie + Isai’s Asheboro wedding

asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (26)

Carrie and Isai were wed by Isai’s father at The First Baptist Church in Robbins, followed by a reception at The Exchange in downtown Asheboro, NC.

Like most brides, Carrie worried about rain on her wedding day. And the forecast for the day of her wedding? All day thunderstorms! So the night before the wedding, we did our best to reassure her that rainy wedding day portraits can actually be awesome and packed a few extra umbrellas…just in case. Luckily, the storms passed just in time for Carrie and Isai to say their ‘I do’s,’ and the entire day was pretty much perfect! Carrie and Isai are seriously one the sweetest couples we’ve had the honor of photographing. They’re funny, kind, and such a joy to be around. It was an honor to photograph their wedding day, and we wish them all the best in their new lives together.asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (7)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (1)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (10)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (4)What were some of your favorite wedding details? “One of my favorite details was the rings I wrapped around my bouquet. They were the wedding bands of my great-grandmother, my grandmother, and my mother. I also loved my Cowboys garter!”asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (5)Robbins-NC-Wedding-PhotoRobbins-NC-Wedding-PhotoAsheboro-NC-Wedding-PhotoWhat is your favorite wedding day memory? “My favorite memory from the day was when the doors opened and I first saw Isai. It felt like such a dream! It truly was a magical day.”asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (11)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (12)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (14)How did you and Isai meet? “I was working at a golf course when Isai walked in and approached me at the front desk. He asked me for directions to an event that was being held there, we made small talk, but nothing more. It wasn’t until I started working at the high school where Isai had once worked, that I ran into him at a soccer game…and the rest is history.”    Robbins-NC-Wedding-Photographerasheboro-nc-wedding-photo (16)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (21)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (22)asheboro-nc-wedding-photo (23)asheboro-nc-wedding-photoHow did Isai propose to you? The Outer Banks is “our spot.” Isai said it was on our first trip to the Outer Banks that he fell in love with me. Two years later, we are at the OBX, walking on the same beach where he told me he loved me. It was almost sunset, and Isai asked me to take a walk up the beach with him. While we were walking, I noticed the condos where we stayed during that first vacation. Isai asked a couple that walking by if they would take our picture. After some technical difficulty with his camera, Isai asked the couple to use his phone, and to keep taking pictures. After posing for the first picture, Isai turned to face me and then dropped to one knee, asking me to be his wife. I was speechless, and instead of saying yes, I could only give a thumbs up. Eventually, I found the words to say yes!”
